Headlines
According to the NBS, Chinas insecticide output continued declining in 201 6, but recorded the slightest fall over the past few years.
The 2nd National Highly Resistant Rice Asiatic Borer Prevention & Control Forum was held in late Feb. 201 7, from which CCM learnt that rice asiatic borers currently show strong resistance to common insecticides and may strike heavily in 201 7 and even H1 201 8. For pesticide manufacturers, this can be a great business opportunity.
At present, the price of insecticide technical in China is increasing on the whole. Low operating rate, which mainly results from stricter environmental protection supervision, as well as increasing domestic and overseas demand are estimated to continue contributing to the price rise in the insecticide technical market in the short term.
On 8 March, 201 7, Zhejiang Xinnong disclosed its plan to launch IPO on the SZSE in order to raise funding for several pesticide and pesticide intermediate projects.
According to the ICAMA, a total of eight registration certificates for insecticide technical have been issued in China, in which six are five-year official registrations and two are one-year temporary registration.
The NATESC released the 201 6 monitoring results on pesticide resistance in late Feb. 201 7, indicating increasing resistance developed in main pests and diseases.
Wheat pests and diseases are heavily occurring. Both the NATESC and Henan Crop Protection Station are taking measures to deal with it: doing researches and analyses, making future predictions in 201 7 and finnally working out guidance document.
During the CACW201 7 held in early March 201 7, Zhou Puguo, director of the ICAMA, gave a detailed introduction to the new Regulations on Pesticide Administration.
China imposed a series of strict environmental protection policies in 201 6. Large number of pesticide enterprises that failed to meet environmental standards were fined or ordered to cut/ suspend production. Still, challenges from these strict environmental regulations continue on in 201 7.
On 8 March, 201 7, Beijing unveiled its 201 7 recommendation lists of environmentally friendly pesticides and agricultural machinery. Although the current pesticide market is still dominated by chemical products, biopesticides are gaining increasing government support. This will be favourable for future development of bio-control products, and meanwhile pose significant challenges to chemical pesticides, especially insecticides.
