The Orange trialled ZTE’s 5G standalone core ahead of network deployments
Operators plan to use network virtualisation to reduce network opex by 33% by 2025. Orange must have a plan to deploy the 5G standalone core to address new revenue-generating 5G use cases, but it is challenged by the multiple NFVI architecture implementations in its different markets, which may hamper the opex reduction goals and prevent smooth deployments.
Orange plans to deploy 5G in its major markets in 2020, but 5G standalone core will be required to deliver the complex 5G use cases.
